Police investigating the murder of Angelika Kluk questioned Sheriff Kieran McLernan about the last time he saw the girl. He told them: "We spoke for a minute or two then I left." But CCTV evidence revealed Daddy had, in actual fact, spent 45 minutes with Angelika on the night before her death. They hugged, spoke at great length, exchanged email addresses and McLernan even took along a wee present for his "golfing protege". Donald Findlay QC, out of "professional courtesy", stopped fractionally short of calling the sheriff a bare-faced liar. Well, we won't. Sheriff Kieran McLernan clearly lied to the police in relation to the time he spent with Angelika in an attempt to mitigate his own involvment with the 23-year-old.
